Romantic English Summer Wedding with Pastel Colours at Sudeley Castle

Welcome back to the blog, and to one of our favourite real wedding features to date. Sophie and Tom’s Sudeley Castle wedding in the heart of the Cotswolds was the kind of day that reminds us exactly why we love what we do as a luxury UK wedding florist. From our American bride, to the soft pastel wedding flowers, iconic glass orangery reception space, meaningful personal details, and layered floral installations. It was a beautiful English summer wedding we won’t be forgetting any time soon.

Sudeley Castle is one of those UK wedding venues. Set on the edge of the Cotswolds, it has a timeless and romantic feel, while still offering so much flexibility for modern and design-led weddings. Scroll on for the full story of this Sudeley Castle wedding, from romantic chapel ceremony to an unforgettable orangery reception.

Destination Wedding Couple

Sophie, an American bride, and Tom, an English groom, brought together friends and family from both sides of the Atlantic for a weekend wedding full of love and connection. With a wedding party of 16, the day had an incredible energy.

From the beginning, Sophie and Tom were drawn to a soft pastel colour palette that still felt modern. Peaches, soft whites, light pinks and baby blues formed the foundation of the design, creating a look that was colourful yet refined, perfect for a summer wedding at Sudeley Castle.

Bridal Party Florals & Styling

Sophie’s bridal bouquet was designed to feel romantic and modern, with a slightly whimsical edge. Soft pastels were layered with texture and movement, resulting in a bouquet that felt natural rather than styled. A bridal look we love for summer weddings.

The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet. Against their baby blue dresses, the florals felt vibrant yet balanced, soft peaches, blush pinks and delicate whites lifting the palette beautifully. With eight bridesmaids in total, the overall effect was cohesive and impactful, proving that pastel wedding bouquets can feel both fresh and modern without ever overpowering the look.

Tom and his groomsmen wore classic buttonholes, simple, elegant and timeless, allowing the focus to remain on the overall floral story.

Quintessential Ceremony Chapel

Guests arrived at the chapel church within the grounds of Sudeley Castle to be welcomed by a large floral arch. Designed using pastel roses, peaches, baby blues and soft whites, the arch set the tone immediately. This floral arch felt romantic, light and seasonal, without feeling overly formal.

Inside the chapel, aisle meadows lined the ceremony walkway, creating a garden-inspired feel that softened the historic interior. Two large floral urns were positioned centrally in the aisle, grounding the space and framing the ceremony beautifully. The pastel colour palette lifted the church décor while still respecting the traditional setting.

The groomsmen escorted the bridesmaids down the aisle before Sophie’s walk with her dad. It was understated, emotional and incredibly elegant. A confetti moment followed, spilling out into the sunshine and marking the transition into the celebrations ahead.

Garden Drinks Reception

Following the ceremony, guests moved outside to enjoy drinks in the sunshine across the castle grounds. The stationery mirrored the floral design, with soft floral details tying the entire day together visually.

One of the most personal (and joyful) moments of the afternoon came when Sophie and Tom’s dog joined the drinks reception. It created some of the most natural and relaxed photographs of the day. Including a favourite moment with the bridal party holding their bouquets, pup proudly centre stage.

The Glass Orangery Reception

The glass orangery at Sudeley Castle is one of the most striking reception spaces in the UK. Its structured glass design, black accents and abundance of natural light make it a dream venue for floral styling.

To create continuity throughout the day, we repurposed the ceremony floral arch at the entrance to the orangery, greeting guests as they arrived for dinner. Inside, three long tables were styled with pastel floral arrangements, baby blue napkins and soft candlelight. Keeping the palette consistent while elevating the look for the evening.

Greenery and foliage were installed across the ceiling of the orangery, paired with rustic chandeliers to add contrast and warmth to the space. The mix of structure and softness worked beautifully and felt incredibly romantic.

Repurposed Wedding Florals

Sustainability and thoughtful design are always at the forefront of how we work, and this wedding was a perfect example of that approach.

The floral urns from the church were repurposed behind the sweetheart table, a lovely nod to Sophie’s American heritage, where sweetheart tables are a popular alternative to traditional top tables. The aisle meadows were also reused, framing the ends of the tables and the sweetheart table, adding depth and abundance to the reception space. An Evening Celebration

As the evening celebrations began, Sophie and Tom kicked things off with a champagne tower. A fun, celebratory moment that set the tone for the night ahead. From there, guests settled into the rhythm of the evening, surrounded by candlelight, colour and flowers designed to feel warm and welcoming as the sun set.
