English Garden Romance with Pastel Flowers at Avington Park
There’s just something about a pastel colour palette that we all love here at The Way to Bloom. Hey, I’m Sarah, your colourful-loving American florist here in the UK, and today I’m sharing one of my absolute favourite weddings from this past season. A wedding that truly embodied English countryside romance with a whimsical twist.
When I first met with this couple for their wedding at Avington Park in Hampshire, I instantly fell in love. They wanted to create a soft yet colourful romantic English garden vibe with a pastel palette of lilacs, soft pinks, peaches, blush, and subtle touches of greenery. This wedding was everything I adore about floral design. A design that feels elegant while still feeling fun, modern, and deeply personal.
The Venue: Avington Park, Hampshire
Set in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, Avington Park is one of those venues that feels like stepping straight into a period drama. It’s a beautiful, grand Georgian house with the most beautiful gardens that just ooze quintessential English charm. It was the perfect backdrop for this pastel-hued wedding day.
The Bridal Party: Soft, Romantic Pastel Bouquets
This bridal bouquet was an absolute beauty. A whimsical hand-tied design featuring lilacs, pinks, soft blues and neutral colours with trailing silk ribbons for that romantic and editorial finish. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bouquet. Against the backdrop of their chic pastel dresses, the bouquets added that final touch of softness and romance to their overall look.

Grand Entrance Florals & Guest Experience
At Avington Park, the guest experience starts from the very moment they arrive. To honour this, we created grand floral urn installations that greeted everyone at the entrance to the manor. These pieces were designed to set the tone for the day: luxurious, romantic, and playful with colour. Featuring oversized urns brimming with pastel blooms, these arrangements framed the entrance beautifully, instantly elevating the space with a feeling of English countryside grandeur.
The Ceremony: Floral Tree Installation & Whimsical Aisle Meadows
For the ceremony, we wanted to create something magical. A floral design that would frame their vows beautifully while still feeling natural and unstructured. Let me introduce our cascading floral tree installation. This towering design featured lilacs, blush pink roses, creamy garden roses, and buttery peach ranunculus, with trailing jasmine and sweet peas to bring in subtle movement. The structure framed the ceremony space, creating an enchanting garden moment, as if they were getting married in a secret English meadow.
The aisle itself was lined with aisle meadow flowers in matching pastel tones, adding softness and whimsy to the outdoor ceremony. Guests sat on either side, surrounded by the sweet scent of fresh florals, creating a romantic atmosphere. The floral tree installation not only made for the perfect backdrop as they said their vows, but also became one of the most photographed moments of the day.
The Tablescape: Romantic & Editorial Pastel Florals
If I had to choose a favourite part of this wedding (which is impossible), it would probably be the tablescape design. Hosted in the elegant and light orangery with two long banquet-style tables, allowing us to create endless floral moments that felt cohesive yet dynamic.
We repurposed the aisle meadows from the ceremony, placing them at the ends of each long table to anchor the design and add a lush garden feel. Along the tables, we styled different-sized urns and bud vases filled with lilacs, roses, and ranunculus in pastel shades. Endless tapered candles and glass votives lined the tables, creating a soft, romantic glow as the sun set over Avington Park.
Dessert Station
We also styled the dessert station, which was another favourite feature. A total showstopper that guests loved. We created a floral design that felt like it was growing out from the table itself, featuring meadows of pastel blooms. Guests could help themselves to sweets and treats surrounded by flowers, bringing a playful yet luxurious touch to the reception styling.
A Wedding Featured on Style Me Pretty
As if this UK destination wedding wasn’t already dreamy enough, it was also featured on Style Me Pretty. One of my all-time favourite wedding inspiration blogs. Seeing this beautiful day shared with couples around the world was such a proud moment as a wedding florist. It truly showcased how pastel colours can still feel luxurious, timeless, and deeply romantic when designed with intention and creativity.
Why We Loved This Wedding
This wedding was the definition of an enchanted English garden celebration. From the floral tree installation to the meadow-inspired tablescapes, everything came together to create an effortlessly beautiful and romantic wedding. As a luxury wedding florist who loves working with colour, this pastel palette was a total dream come true. It proves that colour doesn’t have to be bold or bright to make a statement. Soft, layered pastels can feel equally impactful, creating a wedding design that is both whimsical and timeless.
