Luxury Wedding Florals: How To Add Colour in A Timeless Way
How to Add Colour to Your Wedding Without Losing the Luxury
Here at The Way To Bloom, colour has always had my heart. I’ve always been drawn to colours! From the joy of pink peonies to the soft glow of buttery yellow ranunculus, there’s just something about colour that makes people feel something. Whether it’s playful, romantic, bold, or completely unexpected, colour tells a story. I absolutely love getting to write that story with your wedding flowers.
One of the things I still pinch myself about is being able to design wedding florals for the most incredible couples across the South of England, London, and beyond. Bringing your floral dreams to life through curated colour palettes that feel personal, elevated, and full of soul is truly the best job in the world. There’s a way to work colour into your wedding design that feels totally you, in a luxurious way.
You can bring colour into your day and still have it feel thoughtful, cohesive, and luxurious. This is your how to guide on how to add colour to your wedding. So, it’s time to say yes to colour, embrace different shades with confidence and have fun designing your dream wedding.
Why You Should Add Colour
One of the most common things I hear from couples is, “We love colour, but we’re scared it won’t feel classy.” Your Pinterest boards are filled with neutral palettes and green-and-white perfection, which we also adore. But here’s the truth…
Adding colour won’t take away from elegance.
Colours add personality, energy and emotion. Colour, when done with intention and balance, can feel so elevated and so uniquely you.
Introduce A Pop of Colour
If you still love a timeless and classic greenery and white colour palette, consider working with just one key colour in your floral design. Choosing just one key colour such as pinks, dusty blues, bright yellows, or terracotta hues can elevate your floral design without overwhelming your overall aesthetic.
Use Your Venue as Your Colour Inspiration
Here in the UK, we’re lucky to have wedding venues with so much character and history. From stately manor houses to romantic English gardens, and exclusive luxury wedding weekend venues.
One of my top tips is to let your venue guide your colour choices. Weddings at some of our favourite UK wedding venues like St. Giles House in Dorset, with its historic charm and rich tones, deeper and moodier colour palettes like forest greens or burnt oranges would look divine. In contrast, an English Cotswolds garden venue in summer might call for citrus shades, blush pinks or soft lilacs.
Layer Colour Through Texture
Colour isn’t just for your wedding florals. It’s about how it all comes together and how you can style colour throughout your wedding design. Here are a few favourite texture and colour palette combinations that are always luxurious and elegant.
Coloured glassware or candles to subtly add more colour.
Velvet napkins or patterned linens that add richness and depth to your design.
Statement stationery with delicate touches of colour.
Bud vases down the table in a curated palette that ties everything together
All of these little touches build into a design that feels layered, intentional, and expensive.
Colourful, Fun & Modern Bridal Bouquets
Let your bridal bouquet do the talking.
Adding colour to your bridal bouquet is such a beautiful way to reflect your personality while still keeping things elegant and timeless. Incorporating colour into your bridal bouquet can elevate your entire bridal look. We love pairing colourful florals with a classic gown; the contrast between fresh colour and a chic white dress makes everything feel effortlessly romantic and editorial.
Let Your Bridesmaids Join the Party
Bridesmaid styling is another place we love seeing colour. Whether you go for mismatched dresses in tonal shades or keep the dresses neutral. Your bridesmaid’s bouquets can do the talking and there’s so much potential to be creative here. Let your whole bridal party feel like part of the design!
Some of our favourite bridesmaid’s bouquet pairings are:
Soft lilac dresses with peachy and romantic bouquets.
Sage green bridesmaid gowns with pops of yellow and blush.
Mismatched warm tones with rich and textural floral pairing
Don’t forget the boys! Groomsmen wearing subtle pocket square accents in your palette creates a cohesive look and feel across your wedding party.

Luxury is in the Details
Adding colour doesn’t mean sacrificing elegance. It’s the thoughtful little details and the way colours are repeated and reflected throughout the wedding day, that make a wedding feel luxurious.
This is where working with a UK wedding florist who understands how to style with colour comes in. There’s so much more to choosing a few colourful blooms… Here at The Way to Bloom, we specialise in colour and we adore working with all different colours! We’re designing an entire floral experience that fits with your venue, your vision, and your design.
When everything is intentional? That’s when it feels luxurious and timeless. Whether you add one beautiful shade or embrace a full and joyful colour palette, colour is such a powerful way to bring emotion, personality, and creativity to your wedding.
We’re here to help you every step of the way. From creating your colour story to designing statement ceremony florals and layered tablescapes, we love working with couples who want to do things a little differently.
