I’m Sarah Tappen the heart and soul behind this floral haven at The Way to Bloom. I’m an American florist living in Somerset's quintessential and picturesque landscapes and have immersed myself in the art of wedding and event floristry. With a deep-rooted passion for flowers, all things fashion-inspired and an unwavering commitment to crafting creative floral creations, I've made it my goal to turn your special day into an enchanting celebration of love with modern, elegant and whimsical floral designs.  

Get To Know Me

I’m originally from Virginia and have had quite the journey from the realms of the fashion industry to a newfound passion for florals here in the UK. Equipped with a Fashion Degree and a corporate retail background, my creative brain and my love for flowers had always simmered beneath the surface.

I relocated across the Atlantic for love, settling in Wells in Somerset, alongside my British husband – a true English gent. Our life here, while seemingly 'normal' in the charming British way is very different to the scenes of Bridgerton, albeit we do love an afternoon tea.

I studied at Bath Flower School, cultivating an exquisite eye for detail and embracing the perfectionist's touch. A pivotal moment in my floral journey was working on the in-house florist team at the very beautiful Brympton House in Somerset.

At the core of my identity lies my American spirit, infused with a dedication to customer service and a belief in the transformative power of making people feel truly special! I love becoming your friend as we embark on this journey together, and quite often become an ideal companion for destination brides in search of that comforting touch of home.

I know first-hand how stressful planning a destination wedding can be, I married the love of my life in 2020 – days before Covid hit, and I can honestly say it was the most stressful time of my life. I want this to be a joyful journey and a wonderful experience for you. I’m here to make every step of the way as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. Your dreams are my priority, and I’m committed to bringing your vision to life with a personal touch that reflects your unique love story!

The Way to Blooms’ Story

The inspiration behind the name, The Way to Bloom, is deeply rooted in the philosophy that “what you go through grows you, and when you grow you bloom”. I can’t remember the exact moment that I first heard these words, but I do remember that this inspirational quote has always, and will always resonate with me.

I’ve always considered life as a garden with each experience and journey representing a seed planted in the soil. Whatever life throws at us, we are all resilient flowers that begin to grow. Weddings and events are the pinnacle of a blooming journey. A moment to celebrate love and showcase a beautiful, fully blossomed version of yourself, and commitment to a lifetime of happiness, together.

Bringing Blooms to Bath, Somerset, and Beyond

While nestled in the heart of Somerset, The Way to Bloom creates floral magic all over the UK and beyond. Our passports are always ready and we love nothing more than travelling for love! From the charming landscapes of the Cotswolds to the historic allure of Oxfordshire, the rolling hills of Wiltshire, and the captivating beauty of Devon and Gloucestershire, our floral creations know no bounds, even for all those couples hoping to say “I Do” for a chic city wedding in London. For those with dreams of a destination celebration, we will happily spread our petals across Europe in our favourite destinations such as Italy and France.

I’m incredibly proud of this floral journey so far!
